There was nothing like Stewards when the church was established in the 1950s. The church was without that department for the most part of its existence. The Stewards Department is what is known as the Ushering Department in other Ministries. Until the 1990s, the church has been using the women to collect its offerings.
The Steward Union was established with the sole aim of receiving and leading members and visitors to their seats and also to help collect offerings and ensuring the stage is properly set for the operations of Sunday divine and weekly services. This department is the first unit members come into contact with in the church this speaks volume of the department’s importance in the running of the church administration and activities.
The Steward Department also operates under a national body with a view of promoting coordination and cooperation among members or workers from other branches.
