Biography

BISHOP BENJAMIN BOINOR BANGURA was born on 29th August 1964 to former Elder Abu Bangura and the late Konie Bangura at 18 Taylor Street, Kissy Freetown but grew up in Wellington. He is the third child of a family of six children.He attended the Kissy Primary School, later, the Wellington Primary School, he later proceeded to the Albert Academy Secondary School. He was enrolled at the then Freetown Technical Institute (FTI) now the Milton Margai University to study the following programs: Motor Vehicle Technician, General Course in Engineering, and Technician Diploma in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and obtained City and Guilds Certificate from London.Convinced of the Call of God, he was enrolled at the Evangelical College of Theology to study for a Diploma in Christian Ministries and then Bachelor of Arts in Ministries respectively. He later entered the University of Sierra Leone Fourah Bay College (FBC) where he studied for the following programs: Master of Education (M.Ed), a Post Graduate Diploma In Education (PGDE) and a Master of Arts Religious Education (MARE).He was called to Ministry in 2001, and started that journey in providing Pastoral Service for the National Pentecostal Church at Tombo in the Western Rural District, He later Pastored the following Churches; Fourah Bay Branch, Kissy Branch, Fort Street and then back to the Fourah Bay Church when he was elected as Deputy General Superintendent of the National Pentecostal Mission Sierra Leone in 2015. He was elected as Head of Mission of the National Pentecostal Mission in 2021 and today, he occupies the Bishop’s Seat at Fort Street as Head of Mission.In the course of providing leadership services for some the churches mentioned already, he served as Director of Evangelism and Church Relations, and also as Superintendent, and later Deputy General Superintendent before becoming the Bishop/General Superintendent of the National Pentecostal Mission.In the field of academia, he has served as Principal of the Useful Hands Vocational Institute, Senior Lecturer, Examination Officer, and Estate officer of The Evangelical College of Theology, Jui.Working as a teacher, a Pastor, a husband and father has never been interesting especially in the area of balancing pastoral work and trying to be a responsible father to his children and then a faithful and committed husband to his wife. But to the Glory of God, he has been able to provide the needed services unabated at all times. He is married to Mrs. Mabinty Bangura and blessed with four Children including Mrs. Rachel M. Bangura-Jalloh, Ruth M. Bangura, Samuel B. Bangura and Ishmael Kabbia.Before His call into Ministry, he worked for 14 years as a Mechanical Technician at the National Confectionery Company (NATCO) and the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL) respectively, working directly at the Production and the Utility Departments. HE IS A MAN CALLED AND APPROVED BY GOD FOR HIS PURPOSE
